Polka Dot Baby Shoes

I am in love with the way these turned out!

They were originally supposed to be bright pink with ribbons to match but I was out of pink paint and pink ribbon so I went with purple and made a little felt flower to match.

My brother and his wife are expecting twin girls,  I think some polka dot shoes and a matching circle skirt like this one would be stinkin cute!

circle skirts added to onsies; hello, darling!!

I'll be back soon with the pink shoes and a tutorial...and maybe some little skirts.

Sock Curls

I have a new favorite vlog, actually it's the first vlog I've ever liked...but it is awesome and has so many fabulous ideas that I just had to share.

The sock curls have changed my life!  They are sooo easy and you don't have to buy a thing...

We wake up in the morning pull the socks out and spritz with a little bit of hairspray and she's on her way.

Here's the video for sock curls

There are tons of great ideas on their site so check them out on you tube, Cute Girl's Hairstyles.

Diy American Girl Doll Dress

With four little kids at home the majority of projects on my list are for them and I don't mind, it just doesn't give my little blog much variety.   This is what we made yesterday...my girl's have been wanting to get matching clothes for them and their doll's.  They see all the fancy outfits in the American Girl Magazine and they are a little out of our price range so we came up with this.

We made this red gingham dress a couple years ago for my little girl after she had been watching Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and loved the dress Milly wore at the Barn Raising...you know! Oh you don't, well it's only the best show ever and my very favorite growing up.

This was my favorite part!

So now she and her doll can dress up like Milly and go on all kinds of adventures together.

We added a little bow just to give it a little extra somethin, somethin!

It went together fairly quickly considering it was the first doll dress I have ever sewn.

How To Make Your Own Eye Makeup Remover

I have been using just straight olive oil for about a year now and it has worked well...this recipe with a little baby soap and water works even better.  This is a really easy way to save some money and it works just as well as the stuff you buy at the store.
RECIPE

1 cup water
1/2 Tsp Tear Free Baby Shampoo
1 Tbs Olive Oil
Mix all ingredients and pour into container, shake before use.
(These measurements don't have to be exact you can try it out and make it to your liking.)

Tissue Paper Pom Poms

A while back I made some tissue paper pom pom topiaries...I had ten of them that I didn't know what to do with, so I just tore the little pom pom off  and hung some up in my girl's room and they are darling.  They give the perfect little pop of color without taking up any room on dressers or putting holes in the wall.

I had a lot of colors for my centerpieces and luckily we ended up having just the right colors to match my girl's new bedspreads.

I am in love with these colors!

Wouldn't a topiary on the dresser be lovely too?

How to Make a Drum/Musical Instrument Set for Kids

We had about a week of really nice weather, so nice that my kids even busted out the pool and were sporting swimsuits in 65 degree weather.  They were convinced it was summer until this week's weather hit and we have been inside all weekend so we needed some inside fun.

They have loved these little drums and really enjoyed making them as well.

We started with these Gerber baby snack containers, you could use any kind of can or container that has a drum shape.

They ended up liking the sound the metal side of the container made because it was louder...good for them, bad for Mom and Dad!

Then I let them go to town decorating with paper, stickers, glitter, markers....you name it!

I punched holes in the top and the bottom and let them thread yarn through, this part kept them busy for a long time and they felt pretty cool like they were sewing. We used pencils with foam bullets on the end for drumsticks, but you could use just pencils or spoons or whatever you can round up.

Then they braved the wind for little while to test them out on our new trampoline.

Since they have had so much fun with the drums we thought it would be fun to make a little musical instrument set.

So we made a tambourine....

And that's as far as we have gotten but wouldn't it be fun to add this little guitar Ashley made over at

Maybe some paper mache maracas...couldn't find a link for these.
Maraccas made out of paper mache, pulp, rice and covered with acrylic (found a new home in the Netherlands)

And some rain sticks are always a good time... found here.

This should keep us busy for a little while...we will let you know how it goes.  If you are looking for some more ideas for crafting with the kids check out these spring time crafts for kids here.
