Kindergarten Graduation

My baby is growing up way to fast!  Yikes
They actually had an official graduation ceremony, it was really cute and ended with a slide show with this song in the background.
This song + cute pictures = me crying

Just a little reminder to enjoy the moment.

Tulle headband and how to gather with your machine

Gathering with my machine!
This was so easy and I had no idea my machine could gather, I set it to the longest straight stitch length (in my case 5) and set your tension to the highest it will go and it gathers it for you.

Once your done gathering you end up with this:
barbie tutu or a fluffy headband flower.

Hot glue your center on

I covered my headband with tulle because it was looking a little tattered and now it looks nice and new.
Super easy and fast!

This picture was not taken by me and it was not my idea but it turned out pretty cute I think.

Beth this post is for you and Shane.
They painted the room like you're in a pirate ship, pretty cool.

Baby Shoes

Pink and White Mary Jane's
with felt flower and pearls

You can find the tutorial for these shoes here.

For the flower I cut five individual petal shapes. Fold them in half and sew together at the point of each petal until they hold together and look like a flower, add pearls and your done.

Turn an old purse into baby mary janes

Brown leather mary janes

I found this pattern here.
Converted it from a strap around the ankle to a mary jane, added a bow and pearl and I love them.   Now I just need a 3-6 month old baby girl so someone can wear them.  I used the fabric from an old faux leather purse that wasn't being used anymore.  Keep your eyes peeled for old purses and you can make about 10 pairs of these. (depending on the size of the purse of course)

These are size 3-6 months you can make any size you want just measure the size of foot and make your pattern 1/4 inch bigger all the way around.

This is how you convert Martha's pattern to a mary jane

Your converted pattern should look like this
Cut two of each, pin on fabric, faux leather, denim or what ever you choose and cut out. You should now have two uppers(horseshoe shape) and two soles.

Sew back seam on the upper right sides together.  Then pin right side of upper to bottom of sole and sew.  Turn right side out, sew on strap and bow and you're done.

Kid's Play Food Continued

A few weeks ago I started making some felt food for my kids play kitchen I started with the cookies with interchangeable toppings.

and then some...

Cherry Tarts

and a
Sandwich
and finally some

Breakfast
So I got all of the food made (which I really enjoyed as you can see since I kept adding more and more)  I originally planned on the cookies having a cookie sheet they could velcro on to ...three weeks later
.
.
.
Cookie Sheet
I made a cookie sheet out of an old wooden container I was about to throw away.  A little gray spray paint and we were in business.

I added some velcro dots to the bottom of the tray and cookie bases so they aren't sliding all around and it gives them a little stick, like real cookies.

Almost done!
Amazingly these cookies only have to bake for about five seconds ( Pipps is a little impatient).

Even some unlikely children enjoy playing with the new food!
(He may have had some help with the tutu)

I also added a container for all the cookie toppings in hopes that they won't all get lost, we'll see how that goes.  I had a tootsie roll container left over from Easter and printed off a cute vintage food advertisement I found on google and mod podged it on.

And the felt food project is finally done!

Cute pig spatula and whisk can be found at TJ Maxx.
