Boy Room Inspiration

So my little boy has been sleeping in our room since he was born and now I think it's past time to give him the boot into his own room.  I wanted to make it fun for him so I have been collecting a few ideas, we are renting so the paint will have to wait until later...but it's fun to pick out colors anyway.

Autumn Haze- wall color

Blue Ceiling

Clouds painted on ceiling

This hanging from ceiling
(he loves planes)

Antique truck

Maybe the Crafty Man could make these

or this painted on the wall or on a canvas
Airplane Vinyl Wall Art...

Other Ideas

Two tone sage and cream

Baby Blue and green

Gray?!?  Who knew, I kind of like it.  Gotta love the Custom made bunkbed, I wish I would have seen this before we bought brand new bunkbeds.

And more planes hanging from the ceiling

I'm liking these pottery barn bedrooms with all the deep blues, reds and tan
Boys Bedroom 20

So many cute options makes it hard for a girl to make up her mind!

Now to turn our storage room into his bedroom.....YIKES!

Tow Mater Sandwich

So how do you get a 2 year old little boy to eat an entire sandwich?  I now have the secret...

I first saw this on pinterest and my little boy happened to be sitting on my lap and started begging me to make one.  The one we saw was a little more complicated so I simplified it and thought I would share.

Turn bread upside down and cut off top portion of crust

Cut  a windshield and a mouth

Now assemble your sandwich how you like

Cut  out a windshield and teeth out of cheese

Add rectangular shaped wheels and sideview mirrors.  We used pickles and mustard for the eyes, surprisingly my kids actually liked them.

Don't forget to add an air filter nose and some headlights and in case you were wondering mater only has one working headlight(I'm pretty much an expert, we got my little boy the movie for Christmas and I think he's watched it about everyday since)

Have Fun!

Family Love Blocks

Here are my Love blocks that I was hoping to have done a few weeks ago, but hey at least I got them done!  I wanted them to be all year decor. rather than just Valentine's anyway so no big deal.  My sister in law found these on pinterest and we decided to make some together, I will post a pic. of hers when she gets them done, they are stained rather than painted and they look really nice.

I love having all these family and wedding pictures on display to look at every time I walk by.

What you'll need:
4-3.5" blocks(we cut up a post)
scrap book paper
8 pictures cut to fit
mod podge
Paint or stain
lettering
(we used vinyl but you could print them off onto your scrapbook paper also)

Cut up your blocks and sand them down, paint or stain how you like, let dry.  Cut pictures and scrapbook paper to fit and apply with a layer of mod podge, let dry and add another coat on top, let dry.  Apply vinyl lettering and you're set, enjoy your LOVEly new blocks.

Fabric Flowers with Feathers

This is a quick and easy project, my little girl found a bag of white feathers at my Mom's house over the weekend and this is what I envisioned making when she showed them to me.  Everything I used to make them I had on hand....I love that!

What you'll need:
cotton fabric
felt
pearls
feathers
alligator clip or headband
glue gun

I cut my fabric into strips and twisted and wrapped it around itself with dabs of hot glue as I went.  Hot glue pearls into the center.  Cut a piece of felt and glue feathers on, then glue your flowers and attach to head band or clip.  If you're making a headband you will want to cover up the rough underside with another piece of felt.

Fruit Salad

I was asked to bring a fruit salad to a dinner this week and realized I didn't have a great recipe on hand so after some searching I found this one and it is super easy and really yummy (my kids even loved it).

Recipe
2-6oz. containers rasberry yogurt(or whatever flavor you like)
1-16 oz. container whip cream
1- 3.4 oz. instant vanilla pudding(powder)
about 16 oz. fruit(I used blue berries, rasberries, strawberries and bananas)

Mix yogurt and vanilla pudding powder together,  add all of the whip cream until smooth, add fruit.

Simplified Pettiskirt

I am calling this the simplified pettiskirt because I didn't have enough fabric to make the really full one so I just used what I had and I think it turned out great and is a little more practical for everyday wear.

I found this picture after I made my little girl's pettiskirt, how adorable would it be for a newborn photo shoot. I may have to dress my newborn baby boy up in it just for one picture when he gets here.
.

I used Ahley's tutorial found here, if you want your pettiskirt to be super full use her measurements.  I did all of my gathering with my machine and it saved me tons of time and made a nice uniform ruffle. Not sure how to gather with your machine? Click here.  If you wanted yours to be less full I just did each tier twice as long as the first and it still turned out pretty rufflly.

My little girl is pretty much obsessed with Hello Kitty lately, so for her Birthday we thought it would be fun to make some Hello Kitty Cupcakes.  We had fun making them together and even the little kids made some pretty cute kitties.

We used:

Ears-mini marshmallows cut at a diagonal
Nose-jelly belly
Whiskers-chocolate sprinkles
Bow- Starburst corners and one piece rolled into a ball
